GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 7-2 decision at Lander Friday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 4-5 on the season and fall to 1-3 in league play.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team was unable to snag a point in doubles play. Top-seeded Alejandro Andino and Julien Tan had the closest match, but the dyad fell by a score of 8-4.
USC Aiken's singles line-up was solid and it proved to be tough at the top. Senior Ettore Damiani garnered a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the top spot.
Tan was sensational as the No. 2 seed. He squared off against No. 21 Benjamin Salle and posted a victory. After falling 6-3 in the first set, Tan bounced back to net the win by scores of 6-4, 6-4.
The Pacers return to action on Wednesday, March, 18, when they host Belmont Abbey. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
