MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team registered a 7-2 victory at Pfeiffer Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 4-4 on the young season. The victory by head coach Steve Dahm's team marked the first loss of the season for the Falcons (7-1).
USC Aiken's Julien Tan and Alejandro Andino garnered an 8-4 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot while Ettore Damiani and Ronan Reberac posted an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 slot, helping the team to a 2-1 lead.
Dahm's team showed near dominance in singles play, winning five of the six matches.
Damiani took home the win in the top spot with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Tan had a three-set win in the No. 2 position. He lost the first set 7-5 before winning 7-5, 6-0.
Andy Quirk notched a 6-1, 6-2 victory as the No. 3 seed while Clement Raymond tallied a 6-2, 6-4 win at the No. 4 spot. Fifth-seeded Mathias Degardin rounded out the victory with a 6-0, 7-6 victory at the No. 5 position.
The Pacers return to action Friday when they play at Lander. The match is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
