AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 5-0 decision to No. 1 Armstrong State Tuesday evening.
The Pacers are now 6-7 on the season and 2-5 against conference competition while the Pirates remain perfect at 21-0 overall and 10-0 against league foes.
In doubles action, the No. 1 tandem of Sarah Bernos and Oliver Veskovac dropped an 8-1 contest the visitors. Second-seeded Kayla Calvert and Shauna Williams lost by an 8-0 score as did No. 3 Marie Habiyaremye and Sabrina Tam.
Bernos dropped her match at the No. 2 singles spot by a 6-1, 6-0 mark. Fourth-seeded Calvert fell by a 6-2, 6-0 margin. Williams was playing even in the second set at the No. 1 slot, but the match was not finished.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team returns to action tomorrow when they travel to North Greenville. The match is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
