AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 5-0 contest to No. 4 Armstrong State Tuesday evening.
The Pacers are now 6-7 on the year, including a 2-5 mark against league foes. The Pirates improve to 14-4 overall and 7-0 against conference competition.
Julien Tan and Mathias Degardin pushed ASU's top-seeded doubles team to the brink, but fell just short in the highly-contested match. The duo lost by a score of 9-8.
Ettore Damiani and Jaime Gusano lost an 8-1 decision at the No. 2 spot while Alejandro Andino and Andy Quirk fell by the same score as the No. 3 seed.
In singles action, Damiani and Tan were both outstanding in the top two positions. However, each lost by identical 6-3, 6-3 contests.
The other four matches went unfinished.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team returns to action tomorrow when they travel to North Greenville for a 2:30 p.m., match.
