Box Score 2 DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team lost a doubleheader at North Georgia Saturday by scores of 6-3 and 13-1.
The Pacers are now 19-10 on the season and 9-9 against conference competition. The Nighthawks are 18-7 overall and 12-3 in league action.
Head coach Kenny Thomas' team fell behind in the first game 6-0 as the home squad tallied a run in the second, third and fourth before plating three in the fifth. However, UC Aiken bounced back in the eighth frame.
TJ Costen led things off with a single through the right side of the infield. He swiftly moved to second on a wild pitch before scampering to third on a groundout by Zach Moon.
Chaz Pal stepped to the plate with one down and smashed a single into right field, allowing Costen to score. With two down, Matt Bosse stepped to the plate and crushed a pitch over the wall in left center field, making it 6-3. However, the Pacers were unable to plate another run in the game.
In the contest, Sean Miller, Costen, Moon, Pal, Kody Belcher, Bosse and Douglas Ard all posted hits. Trevor Hutto suffered his first loss of the season. He struck out four batters in five innings of work. Ben Black tossed the last three frames and also struck out four.
Belcher accounted for the lone run for the Pacers in the second game with a round-tripper. It marked his third homer of the season. Costen also reached base on a hit.
In the nightcap, Matt Hissong took the loss. Joe Marlow, Sam Daniel Erik Davis and James Lynch all saw time on the mound.
The Pacers return to action Saturday in a doubleheader at Montevallo starting at 2 p.m.
