Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team posted a 6-4 come-from-behind victory over Chowan Tuesday night.
The Pacers improve to 15-6 on the season while the Hawks fall to 8-8.
Head coach Kenny Thomas' team jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when Zach Moon lifted a round-tripper over the left field fence. Chaz Pal came around to score on the play after he reached on a single to left with one down.
Chowan tied the game in the fifth, but USC Aiken regained the advantage in the bottom of the frame when Bosse launched a solo homer over the left field fence.
The Hawks answered quickly, scoring two runs in the sixth off a homer, a double and an error.
The Pacers were unable to muster any offense until the bottom of the eighth frame. With one down, TJ Costen singled. Barkell followed him up with a single to center. Pal tied the game with an RBI single to right field.
With two down, Pal found his way to second base, but Bosse came through once again. He rocketed a pitch into right center field, scoring two runs for a 6-4 advantage.
For the game, USC Aiken accounted for six runs on 10 hits with just one miscue.
Cole Lee earned his first win of the season. James Lynch picked up his fourth save of the year. Lee worked 2.1 innings while James Lynch worked a scoreless ninth for his fourth save. Lee picked up his first win of the season.
In the game, Bosse led the way with three hits. Randy Luckett and Pal each accounted for a pair of hits. Barkell, Costen and Moon all had one base-knock.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Chowan once again in a 4 p.m., start.
