The win pushes the Pacers to 11-6 overall and a 4-5 mark against league competition.
Hutto improved to 4-0 on the young season. He was spectacular, hurling eight innings of seven-hit ball while striking out six. Hutto walked just two en route to the victory. All seven hits he allowed were just singles. James Lynch came on for his third save on the season with a scoreless ninth.
Hutto retired the first nine batters in order before allowing his first base runner of the game in the top of the fourth via a walk. Although the Bobcat moved to second, he managed to get the next three outs without allowing the ball out of the infield.
Head coach Kenny Thomas' team threatened in the bottom of the fourth as TJ Costen roped a double to right field and promptly stole third. However, he was left stranded as the inning ended with a groundout and a strikeout.
Hutto faced his biggest test in the fifth frame. He allowed back-to-back singles and walked a batter, loading the bags with two down. He managed to force a pop fly for the final out of the inning.
USC Aiken threatened again in the sixth, but the team was unable to push across a run. With two away, Costen was hit by a pitch and moved to second on Ty Barkell's single. The duo pulled off a double steal and Chaz Pal walked to load the bases. However, a strikeout ended the frame.
After two more innings of spectacular pitching by Hutto, the Pacers' offense went to work. Sean Miller singled and stole second. A sacrifice bunt by Costen allowed him to scamper to third. Barkell singled home Miller for what turned out to be the game-winning run.
Lynch came in to start the ninth and promptly registered a strikeout. After a walk, he forced the opposing player into a double play, ending the game.
In the first game of the doubleheader, USC Aiken pounded out 10 hits, but could only score two runs.
Barkell, Zach Moon and Rob Youngblood had two hits apiece. Barkell and Pal each drove in runs while Kody Belcher and Barkell scored.
In the game, Georgia College put three runs on the board in the first, but USC Aiken bounced back with a run of its own. The visitors added four in the third and Thomas' team crossed home once in the fifth. GC tacked on an insurance run in the seventh. USC Aiken stranded 10 runners in the contest.
The Pacers return to action on Friday, March 6 when they travel to Georgia Southwestern. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
