AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team posted an 8-1 victory over visiting Benedict Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 5-2 on the young season.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team opened a 3-0 lead in doubles action and never looked back.
Top-seeded Nadine Tusiama and Shauna Williams played a tough match, but tallied an 8-6 win. Second-seeded Sarah Bernos and Kayla Calvert notched an 8-0 win while Oliver Veskovac and Marie Habiyaremye garnered an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Tusiama went undefeated on the day with her 6-1, 6-0 win as the No. 1 seed in singles play. Williams registered a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot for USC Aiken.
Fourth-seeded Calvert and fifth-seeded Veskovac each won by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Habiyaremye rounded out the victory with her 6-0, 6-1 win.
The Pacers return to action on Thursday when they host Erskine at 2 p.m.
