AMERICUS, Ga. – The No. 48 USC Aiken women's tennis team notched a 9-0 victory at Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 4-1 on the season, including a 2-0 effort against PBC schools.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team was not seriously challenged in doubles play. The top-seeded tandem of Nadine Tusiama and Shauna Williams bested their opposition 8-1. The No. 2 duo of Sarah Bernos and Kayla Calvert thwarted their competition by an 8-1 count while Oliver Veskovac and Marie Habiyaremye notched an 8-0 victory at the No. 3 slot.
In singles action, Tusiama registered a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2, Bernos cruised through the first set 6-1 before having to play a bit extra for the 7-6 victory. Williams, playing the No. 3 position, tallied a 6-1, 6-1 win in her singles match.
Moving to the No. 4 spot, Calvert defeated her opponent 6-3, 6-1. Veskovac needed a little bit of extra time before winning at No. 5, 7-6, 6-4. Habiyaremye made it a clean sweep with her 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they travel to Columbus State for a 12 p.m., contest.
