Box Score COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team lost a 74-49 contest at Columbus State Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
The Pacers are now 2-7 on the season, including an 0-2 mark against league foes. The Cougars improve to 8-1 overall and 2-0 against conference competition.
Rookie Glen Campbell came off the bench to net four-of-six shots, including three-of-four from downtown for a team-best 11 points in 17 minutes of action.
Arbry Butler accounted for nine points and a game-high 14 rebounds, narrowly missing out on another double-double. Fellow senior Keith Belfield also had nine markers.
Jordan Foster came off the bench to tally seven points. Hendrix Emu posted six points while Andrew Glover chipped in three points. Kyle Buffkin and Gavin Stephenson had a pair of points apiece.
USC Aiken hit 19-of-62 shots from the floor (30.6 percent), but buried seven three-point field goals in the game.
Head coach Mark Vanderslice's team got to the free throw line just six times, but made four of the attempts (66.7 percent).
USC Aiken's bench accounted for 23 of the team's 49 points. Vanderslice's team managed to register six steals while the Cougars had just three. Second-chance points were nearly even, with CSU edging USC Aiken 12-11.
The Pacers return to action Jan. 2 at Armstrong State at 3:30 p.m.
