Diedrich And Teelon Pick Up PBC Accolades

AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of South Carolina Aiken standout Ashley Diedrich was tabbed the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week while teammate Emily Teelon was named the PBC Specialist of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

The duo guided the Pacers to a 1-1 week while clinching the PBC regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the PBC Tournament.

Diedrich averaged 4.33 kills and 3.33 digs per set while leading the Pacers to their first regular-season championship since 2007. The senior from Orlando, Fla., had 21 kills and 16 digs in a 3-2 loss at Flagler on Friday before registering 18 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 win at Armstrong State on Saturday. The reigning PBC Player of the Year hit .383 on the week and added four blocks and five assists. Diedrich leads the PBC in kills per set and points per set.

Teelon set a career high and had the sixth-most assists in USCA history with her 61 against Flagler on Friday night.  The sophomore averaged 11.00 assists per set for the weekend as the Pacers won the regular-season championship. In the 3-2 loss at Flagler, she had 61 assists, four aces and three digs. The 61 is the second-highest mark in the PBC this year. She followed that with 38 assists in the win at Armstrong along with another four aces and 11 digs. For the week, Teelon added 1.56 digs, 1.00 kills and 0.89 aces per set.
