Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 7-0 decision to Armstrong State Wednesday evening.
The Pacers are now 2-10-1 on the season, including a 2-5 record against league foes.
USC Aiken controlled the match in the opening moments and continued pushing forward. The squad registered the first shot of the contest when Sarah Moore blasted an attempt that sailed just high of the crossbar at the 9:14 mark.
After a goal by the Pirates in the 14th minute of action, head coach Hilary George's team tried to answer back quickly as Olivia Stiltner rocketed a shot toward the goal that was stopped by the keeper, keeping it at a 1-0 score.
Despite the solid effort, the squad was unable to register another shot in the first half.
Trailing 6-0 at the break, the Pacers continued to put up a solid effort in the final 45 minutes of action. USC Aiken's Brye Epley had a shot blocked in the 48th minute of play, but George's team earned a corner kick seconds later. However, the team was unable to register another shot after that point.
The teams battled back and forth near the midfield stripe for much of the second period, but the Pacers' defense stayed strong until the Pirates tallied its final score of the night at the 82:44 mark.
For the match, Karin Cadwalader came in at the 19:25 mark and posted a pair of stellar saves for the home team.
