USC Aiken Falls At Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team lost a 94-82 decision at Flagler Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Pacers are now 7-8 overall, including a 2-4 mark against league foes.

Hendrix Emu led head coach Vince Alexander's team with 19 points and seven rebounds. He buried eight-of-12 shots from the field for his career-high mark. André Anthony accounted for 18 points on a seven-of-10 effort from the floor while Grant Harris poured in 12 points. Caleb Stewart tallied 11.

Jordan Foster chipped in nine markers while distributing a team-best four assists.

For the game, USC Aiken connected on 30-of-62 shots from the floor (48.4 percent), but allowed the Saints to hit 35-of-59 (59.3 percent). The Pacers made 42.9 percent of their three-point attempts (six-of-14). Alexander's squad held a 35-31 advantage on the glass, but committed 17 miscues to 15 for the Saints.

USC Aiken held a 44-10 advantage in bench points, but was outscored 40-28 in the paint.

Forster's three-point bucket off a pass from Tyreece Brice put the Pacers ahead 8-6, but Flagler answered with a three-pointer of its own on the next possession. The Saints went on a 15-4 run, giving the home squad a 21-12 lead with 13:04 to play in the half.

USC Aiken sliced the deficit to six, but the Saints pushed the score to 44-22 with 5:30 to play in the opening stanza. The Pacers went on a 4-0 run in the final seconds of the half, trimming the deficit to 17 heading into the final period.

USC Aiken opened the second half strong, slicing the margin to 12 with 15:21 to play when Stewart knocked down a three-pointer. Two possessions later, Anthony's jumper made it an 11-point game. However, Flagler answered with another run and pushed its lead to 20 with 6:30 to go.

Alexander's team never gave up and made it a 10-point game in the final minute, but could get no closer.

The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host division leader Lander. The game is slated to start at 7:30 p.m.
