KANSAS CITY, Kan. – University of
South Carolina Aiken women's soccer standout Hannah Allison
has been named the NSCAA Women's Soccer National Player of
the Week, becoming the first Pacer to ever earn the honor.
The 5-5 senior forward from Beaufort, S.C., guided the Pacers to a
1-0-1 week with a tie against No. 10 Wingate and a win over
Emmanuel.
She accounted for four of the team's five goals, including
the game-winning shot against the Lions.
In the season-opening tie against the nationally-ranked opponent,
Allison scored the final two goals of the match, knotting the
contest at 3-3. Trailing 3-1 with under 10 minutes to play, Allison
got free off a corner kick and headed home a goal, making it 3-2
with 7:36 to go. With just 1:46 to play, Allison headed the tying
score off a free kick.
Playing a person down for much of the game against Emmanuel,
Allison opened the scoring with a goal in the
52nd minute. With the score tied at 1-1, Allison
headed home her fourth goal of the season, which turned out to be
the game-winning tally, in the 64th minute of
action.
Allison leads the Peach Belt Conference in goals (four) and points
(eight).
Allison picked up Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week
accolades for her effort. It marked the second time that she has
won that award.
She is just the second women's soccer student-athlete in PBC
history to ever be named NSCAA National Player of the Week.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they hit the road for a
contest at Lenoir-Rhyne at 5 p.m.
