Box Score MACON, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 5-0 decision at Mercer Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 3-3-1 on the season.
Head coach Sue Vodicka's team fell behind 1-0 in the eighth minute of action. The home squad extended the advantage to 4-0 by halftime and added a goal in the 64th minute of action for the final tally.
USC Aiken had a few good chances in the contest. In the ninth minute of work, Hannah Allison posted a shot that was blocked. Two minutes later the team had a corner kick, but Caroline Gillespie's pass was unable to find another one of her teammates.
In the 29th minute, Jenna Beauregard launched a shot on goal that was turned away by the Bears' Maggie Cropp. Vodicka's last good chance in the opening period came off Beauregard's corner kick at the 36:01 mark.
USC Aiken was unable to register a shot in the second half.
For the contest, Vodicka's squad was out-shot 16-3 and trailed 4-2 in corner kicks.
Nicole Cranny got the start between the pipes and played 78:40. She posted two saves. Karin Cadwalader saw her first time in goal this season for the final 11:20 and played well, registering one save.
