Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team improved to 4-1-1 with a 3-2 victory at Pfeiffer Wednesday afternoon.
Head coach Ike Ofoje's team fell behind 1-0 in the 28th minute, but the squad fired back, knotting the contest at 1-1 in the 43rd minute of action.
Jan Wester found Noel Mais just outside the box. Mais collected the pass and pounded the shot to the bottom right corner as the ball just beat the keeper's outstretched hands.
Early in the second half, Mais took a pass from Andre Simmond in the 59th minute on a breakaway. Mais went back to the bottom right with a shot and once again beat the keeper for a 2-1 edge.
After the Falcons tied the match at the 62:27 mark, two newcomers combined on the third tally of the night for Ofoje's team.
Simmond found Brett Smith at the 74:24 mark off a cross from the far post and Smith headed home what turned out to be the game-winning goal.
For the match, Brandon Jarosz played all 90 minutes between the pipes. He registered three saves while facing 11 shots.
Each team posted 11 shots in the contest. USC Aiken controlled the possession, earning 12 corner kicks to just seven by Pfeiffer.
The Pacers return to action Friday at Belmont Abbey. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
