AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team cruised past Young Harris Saturday in the home finale by an 8-1 count.
The team is now 12-6 overall, including a 5-5 effort against Peach Belt Conference competition.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team earned a 3-0 lead thanks to the doubles competition. At the top spot, Nadine Tusiama and Shauna Williams posted an 8-4 win. Playing as the No. 2 seed, Victoria Jasko and Franziska Regel earned an 8-1 victory as did Margot Simon and Charlotte Greenwood.
USC Aiken snagged the top three seeds in singles action as well as the No. 5 and No. 6 positions for the seven-point margin.
Tusiama lost the first set 7-6 before bouncing back to win the next two 6-2, 11-9, for the victory. Simon tallied a 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 2 slot while Jasko had a tough time in the first set, but prevailed 7-6, 6-0.
Regel garnered a 6-2, 6-0 set at the No. 5 position while Ella Rhodin notched a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 slot.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow at North Georgia. The match is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
