AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 5-4 decision to visiting Francis Marion in a conference contest Wednesday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 11-6 overall, including a 4-5 mark against PBC foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team trailed 2-1 after doubles action. The tandem of Margot Simon and Julia Arruda posted a solid 8-0 victory at the No. 3 spot. However, the top two teams were unable to pull out victory in doubles play.
In singles action, USC Aiken claimed three matches and forced another to the third set, but was unable to come up with the crucial victory to secure the overall win.
Nadine Tusiama continued her stellar singles play with a 6-4, 7-6 win at the No. 2 slot. Arruda, playing at the No. 5 position, posted a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 5 position. Caitlyn Lawrence won an 8-1 contest at No. 6, but it was not enough.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Young Harris in the home finale. The match is slated to start at 11 a.m.
