AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 5-1 decision to visiting Francis Marion Wednesday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Pacers are now 9-6 overall, including 1-5 against conference foes.

Head coach Steve Dahm's team found itself trailing 3-0 after doubles play. The duo of Andy Quirk and Ronan Reberac narrowly lost, falling by a 9-8 decision at the No. 3 seed. Second-seeded Ettore Damiani and Lucas Gobbi fell by an 8-6 count.

In singles action, Damiani posted the team's lone victory, which happened at the No. 1 spot. Damiani won a 6-2, 6-3 straight set decision. Alejandro Andino pushed his opponent to extra points in the first set, but lost a 7-5, 6-4 match at the No. 2 position. Quirk battled to a three-set contest, but lost 6-2, 2-6, 6-0.

With the match in hand, Lucas Gobbi, Patrick Stiebinger and Felix Zahn did not finish their respective matches.

The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Young Harris in the home finale. The match is
slated to start at 11 a.m.
