SAVANNAH, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 2 Armstrong by a 9-0 score Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 13-8 overall, including a 6-7 effort against Peach Belt Competition foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team fought hard against the Pirates, but ended up short of the upset over the top-10 team.
In doubles action, top-seeded Nadine Tusiama and Shauna Williams lost an 8-2 decision to their counterparts, who are No. 2 nationally. Victoria Jasko and Margot Simon lost an 8-1 decision at the No. 2 spot against the No. 8 tandem while Franziska Regel and Caitlyn Lawrence lost an 8-1 match at the No. 3 spot.
Jasko posted the closest singles match, which came at the No. 4 slot. Jasko lost the first set 6-1 before rebounding for a 6-4 win in the second frame. However, she fell by a 10-2 count in the tiebreaker. Simon picked off two games in the second set as the No. 2 seed, but that was the closest the Pacers were able to get in the match.
