SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 15 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 9-0 decision to No. 5 Armstrong Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 10-9 overall, including a 2-8 effort against Peach Belt Conference competition.
In doubles play, Alejandro Andino and Patrick Stiebinger were playing as the No. 1 seed and pushed their opposition but still dropped an 8-3 match. Ettore Damiani and Lucas Gobbi fell by an 8-2 count at the No. 2 spot while Andy Quirk and Ronan Reberac lost an 8-1 decision as the No. 3 seed.
At the top singles spot, Damiani, ranked No. 26, fell by a 6-2, 6-3 score to No. 10 Pedro Scocuglia. Andino was the No. 2 seed, but fell to No. 25 Jaan Kononov by a 6-0, 6-2 score.
Quirk got on the board in both sets, but ultimately lost a 6-2, 6-3 match at the No. 3 position. Stiebinger was the only other Pacer to get on the board in both sets, but he fell by identical 6-2, 6-2 scores as the No. 5 seed.
