MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis squad dropped a 5-1 contest at Georgia College Saturday.
The Pacers are now 10-8 on the season and 2-7 against Peach Belt Conference competition.
USC Aiken narrowly missed out on having a 2-1 lead after the completion of doubles play. Second-seeded Ettore Damiani and Lucas Gobbi earned an 8-4 victory at the No. 2 spot. Alejandro Andino and Patrick Stiebinger pushed NO. 16 Yannick Haas and Alex Schubert to the brink before falling by a 9-7 score.
In singles action, Damiani fell by a 6-4, 6-4 score at the top spot while Andino lost a 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 2. Andy Quirk lost his match by the scores of 7-6, 6-3.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow at Armstrong. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m.
