AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost an 8-1 decision to No. 5 Columbus State Sunday afternoon in a PBC competition.
The Pacers are now 8-3 overall, including a 3-2 mark against league foes.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team fell behind 3-0 after the doubles competition despite a tremendous effort by the squad.
At the No. 2 slot, USC Aiken's duo of Nadine Tusiama and Shauna Williams were able to take three games in the early going, but it was not enough.
Victoria Jasko, playing the No. 5 position, bested Elena Preadca by a 6-3, 6-1 count, snagging the lone victory for Dahm's team on the day.
In all five of the matches that the Pacers lost in singles action, the team put forth a solid effort. The squad had two matches go into extra points, including one three-set thriller at the No. 4 spot.
The Pacers will take some time off before they travel to Savannah, Ga., and face Flagler on March 22 at 3 p.m. It is also the lone match being played away from the team's home venue this month.
