AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 7 University of
South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team is No. 1 in the
third regional rankings for the Southeast Region.
The Pacers are currently 26-3 on the year and finished with the
Peach Belt Conference regular-season title after going 18-1 against
league competition.
USC Aiken clinched the regular-season title with the win at GRU
Augusta last Wednesday. The team completed the regular season by
downing UNC Pembroke 107-91.
In the region, the Pacers are followed by Lincoln Memorial,
Montevallo, GRU Augusta, Anderson, Carson-Newman, Georgia
Southwestern and Mount Olive. Newberry and Barton round out the top
10.
Last season, USC Aiken hosted and won the three-day region
tournament while en route to a spot in the program's
first-ever Elite Eight appearance.
The Pacers open PBC Tournament play against Columbus State Friday
night at 7 p.m., in Columbus, Ga.
