AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball standout Ronald Zimmerman has been named to the 2014 Daktronics Southeast Region second team.
Zimmerman is the career leader in the Peach Belt Conference for three-point field goals made. Heading into the NCAA Southeast Regional, Zimmerman has hit 324 field goals from the three-point stripe in his illustrious career, including 124 this season.
Zimmerman paces USC Aiken with his 16.5 points per game, which he upped during PBC play to 17.9 a contest. He drained 44.9 percent of his three-point shots during the regular season and canned 83.8 percent of his attempts from the foul line.
He eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau for his career in the win over King earlier this year and was a second-team all-PBC selection.
On Senior Night, Zimmerman poured in a career-high 36 points, including a seven-of-13 effort from downtown, guiding the Pacers to a 107-91 victory over UNC Pembroke.
Joining Zimmerman on the second team were standouts Ishmael Hollis (North Georgia), PJ Foster (Limestone), Evrik Gary (Francis Marion), Ish Sanders (Carson-Newman) and Barton's Chris Flemmings. Lincoln Memorial's Vincent Bailey was named the Region Player of the Year.
The D2SIDA All-America men's basketball team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition.
