Box Score 2 WINGATE, N.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken dropped a pair of games at Wingate Tuesday afternoon by scores of 5-3 and 8-7.
The Pacers are now 17-6 on the season.
In the opener, head coach Jerry Snyder's team fell behind 3-0 heading into its last at bat. Magan Thrower led off the frame with a homer to straight away center field, pulling the team within two. After an out, Andrea Daring belted her second round-tripper, sending the ball over the left field fence.
Ashley Metts followed Daring up with a double. Brielle Jungblut came in as a pinch runner and moved to third when Madison Labrador lifted a high fly ball to left field.
With two down, Kaitlyn White's single to the gap plated Jungblut, tying the game. However, USC Aiken was unable to capitalize, leaving two runners on. The Bulldogs managed to plate the winning runs on a homer in the bottom of the frame for the win.
In the second contest, the Pacers found themselves down 2-0, but battled back with a flurry of runs in the middle innings.
Samantha Chubb blasted a solo shot with one down in the fourth, trimming the deficit to just one. USC Aiken tied the contest an inning later when Thrower's double plated White, who had watched the pitcher throw her four balls, allowing her to take first.
Daring walked with two outs and Chubb stepped to the plate, rocketing a pitch over the left field fence and giving the visitors a 5-2 advantage.
Wingate tied it in the bottom of the seventh, but the Pacers' offense stepped up in the eighth. Shannon Traylor came in for Daring, who started the inning on second due to the international tiebreaker rule.
With one down, Victoria Burkett's single scored Traylor. Three batters later, White's single allowed Burkett to score 7-5. However, the Bulldogs plated three in the eighth.
The Pacers return to action Friday when they travel to Armstrong at 1 p.m., for their PBC opener.
