AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 13 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team stormed Pfeiffer at home, winning 7-2 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest. 

The Pacers improve to 5-1 for the season so far with the victory.

The team nearly swept the competition, dropping only one singles match and one match in doubles play.

Head coach Steve Dahm's team started off the meet with four singles wins in a row.

Ettore Damiani began the roll in the No. 1 spot, fighting hard to take his two sets 7-6 and 6-4, respectively.

Andy Quirk easily handled the No. 2 position, setting the tone for the next three USC Aiken set wins with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. Alejandro Andino scored straight 6-4, 6-4 sets at the No. 3 slot for another Pacer set win.

Lucas Gobbi wrangled a win in the No. 4 position in two sets, scoring 6-1 and 7-6. The No. 5 spot was hotly contested between the two teams, but ultimately dropped by the Pacers.

Felix Zahn rounded out the singles at the No. 6 slot with a decisive win, scoring 6-0 and 6-2, respectively.

While a win wasn't managed by USC Aiken at the No. 1 spot in doubles play, the No. 2 and No. 3 positions were a different story.

Damiani and Gobbi pulled out a determined 8-3 win in the No. 2 slot, while Quirk and Ronan Reberac managed an 8-5 win to round out the match win.

The Pacers return to action Sunday when they host Coker in a 1 p.m. match.
