DUE WEST, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team recorded another road victory, besting No. 25 Erskine Thursday afternoon by a 5-4 count in a non-conference contest.
The Pacers are now 6-1 overall, including a 4-1 mark away from home.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team earned two wins in doubles action en route to the overall win. Nadine Tusiama and Franziska Regel ousted their opponents by an 8-5 score at the No. 2 position. Margot Simon and Victoria Jasko notched an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 slot for the 2-1 lead.
Tusiama took control at the No. 1 singles spot, downing her opponent by a 6-1, 6-2 score. Margot Simon amassed a come-from-behind three-set win at the No. 2 position. After dropping the first set 6-4, she bounced back for a 6-3 win in the second frame. In the deciding stanza, Simon posted a 7-5 win, taking the victory.
The Pacers dropped the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions in singles play, but Jasko powered home the win at No. 6, securing the overall win. Jasko won by set scores of 6-1, 6-1.
USC Aiken returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m., when the team host Pfeiffer in a non-conference contest.
