University of South Carolina Aiken men's golf standout Andrew
Ward was named winner of the Elite 89 award, which was released at
the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship while
Brandon Robinson-Thompson garnered PING All-America
accolades.
The Elite 89 award goes to the
student-athlete at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National
Championship with the highest GPA.
Ward, a 5-10 junior from York,
S.C., has been instrumental this season in helping the No. 2 Pacers
claim the Peach Belt Conference Championship and earn a berth at
the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National
Championship.
In the classroom, Ward sports a 3.904
GPA in business administration.
Robinson-Thompson, a 5-10 junior from Totland Bay, England, earned
nine top-10 finishes on the season, including a victory at the PBC
Championship. During the season he picked up PBC Golfer of the Week
honors, was a first-team all-conference selection and was tabbed to
the PBC all-tournament team.
Robinson-Thompson notched six top-five finishes. He produced a
PBC-low round of 65 on the season, which he shot at the Palmetto
Intercollegiate. At the Hootie at Bulls Bay Tournament,
Robinson-Thompson posted a season-best six-under par for the
three-day event. Heading into the NCAA Championship,
Robinson-Thompson held a record of 815-153 on the
season.
