USC Aiken Falls In Regular-Season Finale

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's soccer team lost a 9-0 decision to North Georgia Saturday evening.

The Pacers are now 6-8-3 overall, including a 4-5-2 mark against league foes.

The host institution got on the board just two minutes into the game. The team would tack on two more goals in the first period while holding head coach Sue Vodicka's squad without a shot in the first stanza.

USC Aiken opened the second period with more aggression. The Pacers registered their first shot of the match at the 52:20 mark off the boot of Akeyla Furbert. However, the shot was blocked.

In the 56th minute, the home squad added another goal. Off the Pacers' next possession, Jenna Beauregard ripped a shot that sailed just high of the goal.

Olivia Stiltner blasted a shot that looked like it would find the back of the net in the 71st minute of play, but Mallory Sayre was able to stop it for North Georgia.

USC Aiken pushed forward, earning a corner kick at the 78:10 mark off the foot of Beauregard. Four minutes later, Beauregard drilled a shot on goal. Kim Beyer attempted a shot in the 84th minute, but Sayre came up with the save.

For the match, Nicole Cranny played 70:55 between the pipes and stopped eight shots. Karin Cadwalader played the last 19:05 in goal, earning a save.

The Pacers had six shots in the contest, three of which were on target. The team also tallied two corner kicks, both of which came in the final stanza.

USC Aiken will compete in the PBC Tournament, which starts on Tuesday. The Pacers' opponent will be determined later tonight.
