Box Score MORROW, Ga. – After a scoreless first half, the University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team registered a 4-1 victory at Clayton State Saturday evening.
The Pacers are now 11-3-1 on the season, including a 5-2 mark against Peach Belt Conference competition.
In the 54th minute of action, senior Noel Mais managed to find the back of the net for head coach Ike Ofoje's team for the 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later, Andre Simmond found Adria Dalmau for a 2-0 edge.
The Pacers continued pushing forward and the persistence paid off when Mais struck again, earning his second goal of the match at the 62:34 mark.
Clayton State managed to get on the board just 14 seconds later, but Ofoje's squad managed to get the goal back. In the 64th minute, Simmond rocketed a shot past the keeper for the 4-1 margin.
For the match, Brandon Jarosz played all 90 minutes between the pipes. He stopped four shots while giving up just one goal.
Mais accounted for a pair of goals while Simmond accounted for a goal and an assist.
USC Aiken out-shot Clayton State 13-11, including a 10-5 advantage in terms of shots on goal. Ofoje's squad earned five corner kicks compared to four by the home team. In all, 17 fouls were called in the match.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host UNC Pembroke. The match is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. and has been designated Senior Day.
