MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken volleyball team earned a 3-0 decision at Georgia College Friday evening. Set scores were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-17.

The Pacers are now 16-5 on the season, including a 9-3 effort against Peach Belt Conference foes.

USC Aiken hammered home 46 kills en route to a .292 attack percentage while limiting the Bobcats to 25 kills and a .104 attack percentage.

Ashley Diedrich posted a match-high 15 kills while hitting .357. Taylor Stratton put forth a solid match with eight kills against just one miscue for a .412 attack percentage. Alicia Hines added seven kills while Hannah Tierney notched six. Julia Forster added five and Sheila Walsh chipped in four. Shawn Hotson made good on her lone attempt of the match with a kill.

Walsh distributed a match-best 28 assists. She narrowly missed a double-double by accounting for eight digs. Amanda Bologna and Lauren Howard had four assists apiece while Monica Cardona and Katie Toman dished out three apiece. Diedrich and Forster also added assists.

At the service line, Tierney led everyone with four aces. Diedrich accounted for three while Toman and Walsh had two and one, respectively.

Defensively, Cardona recorded a match-high 13 digs. Diedrich accounted for nine while Toman managed eight. Hotson and Tierney each totaled five. At the net, Tierney and Diedrich shared match-high accolades with four block assists each. Hines and Stratton had a block assist apiece.

The teams traded points in the early going, but Diedrich's kill off a pass from Walsh propelled the team to a 5-4 edge. Diedrich added another kill for a two-point lead. After a service error, USC Aiken regained a two-point lead off of Walsh's kill. The squad widened the margin the rest of the way, building a 13-7 margin when Stratton found the court.

Leading 13-8, the Pacers embarked on a 7-0 spurt. During the run, Tierney had a pair of kills as did Diedrich. Walsh added an ace and the team eventually closed out the set 25-15 when Bologna found Hines for the game-winning point.

Head coach Glenn Cox's team found itself down 6-2 in the second frame, but Tierney's kill sparked an 8-0 run. Diedrich had three kills during the spurt while Forster and Hines added kills. Tierney also had a pair of aces. The home team pulled within three, but head coach Glenn Cox's squad would not let the team get any closer. Tierney ended the set with an ace for the 10-point victory.

USC Aiken started slow in the third stanza as the team trailed 9-7. However, Diedrich sparked a 6-0 run for a lead the squad would not relinquish. The spurt was highlighted by a pair of aces from Toman. After a point by the Bobcats, Forster's kill gave momentum back to USC Aiken. The team cruised to the 25-17 victory as the match ended off a miscue by Georgia College.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow in a tri-match. The team plays at GRU Augusta at 1 p.m., and will play a neutral-site affair against Claflin at 3 p.m.
