Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Six University of
South Carolina Aiken men's basketball student-athletes reached
double figures en route to a 91-70 road win at Georgia College
Wednesday evening in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
The Pacers are now 16-2 overall, including an 8-0 effort against
league foes.
Ronald
Zimmerman poured in a game-high 21 points as he connected on
seven-of-13 three-point attempts. DeVontae
Wright played all 40 minutes, tallying 16 points and nine
assists to go along with four rebounds. Santoine
Butler accounted for 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists
off the bench. Jesse Seilern
netted 12 points while Paul Larsen and Rick
Alderman each scored 10.
Alvin
Brown grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds while Alderman snagged
five.
Head coach Vince Alexander's team buried 27-of-52 shots from the
floor (51.9 percent) for the contest. USC Aiken drilled 13-of-26
three-point shots (50 percent) while also canning 24-of-29 shots
from the charity stripe (82.8 percent).
The Pacers held a 39-18 advantage on the glass. The team also had
a 17-7 lead in assists.
USC Aiken fell behind 11-2 just five minutes into the contest.
However, Wright got the team going with a jumper at the 13:45 mark.
Brown's two free throws pulled the team within five at 11-6.
With 4:01 to play in the opening period, Seilern drained a deep
three off a pass from Butler, evening the contest at 26. The bucket
sparked a 14-3 spurt by the Pacers. During the run, Alderman made a
lay-up, Zimmerman made two three-point buckets, Wright hit a jumper
and Butler made a free throw, helping the team to a 37-29 lead at
the break.
Leading 54-48 with 12:28 to go in the game, Zimmerman converted a
three from the win, pushing the margin to nine. After a basket by
the Bobcats, Butler made a three-pointer for an 11-point edge.
After a lay-up by the home squad, Butler's shot gave the visitors
a double-digit lead. From that point forward, Alexander's team
increased the lead en route to the 21-point victory.
The Pacers return to action on the road Saturday against Francis
Marion at 3:30 p.m.
