AIKEN, S.C. – University of South
Carolina Aiken men's basketball standout DeVontae Wright has
been named the Peach Belt Conference Men's Basketball
AstroTurf Player of the Week, as announced by the league office
Tuesday afternoon.
Wright, a senior from Goose Creek, S.C., led the No. 13 Pacers to
a 3-0 record last week. He averaged 20.3 points per game during the
stretch.
He started the week with a 17-point, eight-assist effort at
Clayton State. In the home win over Young Harris, Wright tallied 21
points, five boards and four assists before notching a career-high
23 points in the victory over North Georgia.
For the week, the senior canned 46 percent of his field goals,
including 45 percent of his three-point shots. Wright also buried
all 15 free throw attempts. He chipped in 5.7 assists and 3.7
rebounds per outing.
Wright is currently fourth in the PBC in assists, third in
three-point percentage and sixth in steals.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday night at Georgia College.
Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
