ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – University of South Carolina Aiken
softball players Alyssa
Cook and Brittney Williamson were named to the 2013 Peach Belt
Conference Softball Championship All-Tournament Team after the
conclusion of the championship on Sunday evening.
Cook (St. Leonard, Md./Aiken Tech) closed out USC Aiken's
two games in the tournament hitting a scorching .667 (4-for-6). The
junior catcher scored two runs and had four RBIs. Cook owned a
slugging percentage of 1.167 and an on-base percentage of .667.
In USC Aiken's 5-2 upset victory over
13th-ranked North Georgia in the Peach Belt Conference
Tournament quarterfinals, Cook blasted a grand slam.
Williamson closed out USC Aiken's two games in the league
tournament hitting .333 (2-for-6). She had two RBIs and scored one
run.
Williamson (Lexington, S.C./White Knoll HS) was the only Pacer
to collect multiple hits in USC Aiken's narrow Peach Belt
Conference Tournament semifinal loss to 14th-ranked
Georgia College. The junior left fielder went 2-for-2 with two RBIs
in the game.
