AIKEN, S.C. – The nationally 30th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team claimed its third straight win in a 9-0 shutout victory over Erskine on Tuesday afternoon at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex.
USC Aiken (9-4) easily breezed by Erskine (7-8) in doubles with Lucas Gobbi (Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, Brazil/Colegio Politec) and Ettore Damiani (Genoa, Italy/University of Genoa) claiming the biggest doubles win on the day for the Pacers over the Flying Fleet with an 8-1 win over Erskine's Robert Clarke and Benny Uy at No. 3 doubles.
All six Pacer wins in singles came in straight sets with Andy Quirk (Glasgow, Scotland/Wisconsin) and Ronan Reberac (Contes, France/Lycée Guillaume Apollinaire) both picking up shutout wins.
Quirk bested Erskine's Dean Harris 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, while Reberac downed Uy 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
The Pacer men and women will next hit the road on Wednesday, April 3 for a league road match against Lander in Greenwood, S.C. Things are slated to commence at 3 p.m.
After a road trip to Belmont Abbey on Thursday, April 4 (2:30 p.m.), the USC Aiken men and women will close out their week with a home match against Peach Belt Conference foe Georgia College at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex on Saturday, April 6. Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
