TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of South Carolina
Aiken baseball team is ranked 10th in the ninth 2013 regular-season
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II
Poll.
USC Aiken was ranked 10th in the preseason poll
released on Dec. 21, 2012. The Pacers moved up five spots to fifth
in the first regular-season national tally. The Pacers remained
fifth in the second regular-season poll. The Pacers were ranked
sixth in the third, fourth and fifth regular-season polls. USC
Aiken was ranked 13th in the sixth regular-season
tally. USC Aiken had moved back up to eighth in the seventh
regular-season poll. USC Aiken was ranked sixth last week.
The Pacers have now been ranked in 26 straight national polls.
The Pacers were ranked inside the top-30 in the final 16 national
polls of the 2012 season.
USC Aiken is one of four Peach Belt Conference teams ranked in
the latest national tally. Lander is currently third, while UNC
Pembroke is 11th and Montevallo is 16th.
Delta State is the No. 1 team in the latest national
tally. Mount Olive is second.
USC Aiken begins the upcoming week with a 27-7 record overall.
The Pacers are 13-5 in Peach Belt Conference play this season.
USC Aiken will open the coming week by traveling to Gaffney,
S.C. for a 3 p.m. non-conference game against Limestone on
Wednesday, April 3. It will be the second meeting between the two
teams this season with USC Aiken taking a 10-6 victory over
Limestone at Roberto Hernandez Stadium on Wednesday, March
13.
The Pacers will then close out their week with a Peach Belt
Conference three-game series at Roberto Hernandez Stadium against
rival Augusta State. The series will begin with a 7 p.m. contest on
Friday, April 5 at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The three-game league
set will conclude with a doubleheader at the 'Bert on
Saturday, April 6. The first game of the doubleheader is set to get
underway at 1 p.m.
USC Aiken and Augusta State have already met once this season
with USC Aiken taking a 4-1 10-inning Outback Cup win over the
Jaguars on Wednesday, March 27 in Augusta. The Pacers own a 65-20
all-time series lead over Augusta State.
