GAFFNEY, S.C. – The nationally 23rd-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team bested Limestone, 6-3, on Friday afternoon at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center.
USC Aiken (6-2) after its non-conference win over Limestone (5-3) has now won five of its last six matches.
The Pacers opened their win over Limestone by taking two of the three doubles matches.
Andy Quirk (Glasgow, Scotland/Wisconsin) and Bruno Orlandini (Araraquara, SP, Brazil/Longwood) downed Limestone's Antoine Le Dore and Daniel Lopez, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles, while Ettore Damiani (Genoa, Italy/University of Genoa) and Lucas Gobbi (Santa Bárbara d'Oeste, Brazil/Colegio Politec) defeated Limestone's Lucas Guinski and Benji Lascari Diaz, 9-7, at No. 3 doubles.
The Pacers then took four of the six singles flights to pick up the 6-3 win. USC Aiken claimed the singles victory at No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Ranked nationally in singles, 23rd-ranked Kevin Zerath (Marseilles, France/Euromed Management Marseille) bested Limestone's Carlos Yanes 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
The USC Aiken men's tennis team will next conclude its week on the road in Florence, S.C. against Peach Belt Conference foe Francis Marion on Sunday, March 10. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
