YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The nationally 30th-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team picked up 7-2 Peach Belt Conference win over No. 26 Young Harris on Friday afternoon at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
The USC Aiken women fell 8-1 to the nationally 34th-ranked Young Harris women.
In the men's match, USC Aiken (7-4, 2-4 PBC) claimed two of the three doubles matches with the Pacers garnering wins over Young Harris (8-4, 3-4 PBC) at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
USC Aiken's No. 3 doubles tandem of Kevin Zerath (Marseilles, France/Euromed Management Marseille) and Ronan Reberac (Contes, France/Lycée Guillaume Apollinaire) acquired an 8-1 win over Young Harris' Tom Gibaud and Sebastian Dartnell.
The Pacers would go on to obtain victory in five of the six singles flights.
In the women's match, Julia Arruda (Valinhos, Brazil/Anglo Coc Valinhos) claimed the lone point for USC Aiken (8-7, 3-6 PBC) in its loss to Young Harris (12-4, 6-3 PBC). Arruda bested Young Harris' Stormy Dvorak 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 6 singles.
The Pacer tennis teams will next travel to Savannah, Ga. for a neutral site Peach Belt Conference match against Flagler at Bacon Park on Monday, April 1. Action is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
