Box Score DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The nationally eighth-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team claimed its eighth straight win with a 13-2 Peach Belt Conference victory over North Georgia on Friday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.
USC Aiken (23-5, 10-3 PBC) opened its win over North Georgia (9-16, 3-7 PBC) by plating four runs in the top of the first inning.
The Pacers would not let up the rest of the game en route to their 11-run victory. USC Aiken scored six of its 13 runs in the game in the top half of the sixth inning.
USC Aiken overall out-hit North Georgia, 16-11, in the game.
Six Pacers finished the win over North Georgia with multiple hits with Branden Millhouse (Summerville, S.C./USC Upstate), Bill Gerstenslager (Solon, Ohio/Mercyhurst) and Ryan Metzler (Glen Burnie, Md./Siena) each securing three hits in the game.
The Pacer leadoff hitter, Millhouse was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in game one.
Gerstenslager finished the dominating Pacer win 3-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI. Metzler was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and one run scored. Metzler has now hit safely in 13 straight games.
In the midst of a 15-game hitting streak, Gerstenslager belted a home run in the game.
USC Aiken's Ty Barkell (Denver, Colo./Palmer Ridge HS), Ben Donath (Aiken, S.C./Middle Georgia) and Josh Miller (Chapin, S.C./Chapin HS) each concluded the victory with two hits.
Miller had three RBIs and a run scored in the game, while Donath scored two runs and drove in another two.
Barkell, with his two hits, has now hit safely in 19 consecutive games.
Jake McCurry and Kenny Bellavance led North Georgia in its loss with two hits each.
USC Aiken starting pitcher Ryan Milewski (West Boylston, Mass./West Boylston HS) recorded the win on the hill for the Pacers. Milewski (3-2) struck out four in his five innings on the hill.
North Georgia starter Taylor Keinat allowed 12 runs in his four innings on the mound for the Saints. He is now 1-4 on the year.
USC Aiken and North Georgia will now close their three-game league series with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 23 at Bob Stein Stadium. First pitch in game one is slated for 1 p.m.
