FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken tennis teams were unable to obtain road victories over Francis Marion on Sunday afternoon at Kassab Courts.
The USC Aiken women (8-5, 3-4 PBC) fell 9-0 to the nationally 11th-ranked Francis Marion women (12-1, 5-1 PBC).
In a battle of top-25 teams, the nationally 23rd-ranked USC Aiken men (6-3, 1-3 PBC) were upset by the nationally 27th-ranked Francis Marion men (9-3, 2-3 PBC), 6-3.
Andy Quirk (Glasgow, Scotland/Wisconsin) and Bruno Orlandini (Araraquara, SP, Brazil/Longwood) claimed USC Aiken's only doubles point on Sunday, besting Francis Marion's Marius Wahlier and Luke Bateup, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles.
The Pacers claimed their two singles points at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Ettore Damiani (Genoa, Italy/University of Genoa) picked up the win at No. 5 singles for the Pacers, while Orlandini acquired the win at No. 6 singles.
The Pacer men will now have 11 days off before next returning to action by hosting NCAA Division I South Carolina State at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex on Thursday, March 21. Action is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
The Pacer women will next return to the courts on Saturday, March 23 against Lander in Greenwood, S.C. Matches are scheduled to commence at 1:30 p.m.
