Box Score

AIKEN, S.C. – Ryan Milewski pitched a complete-game two-hitter as the nationally sixth-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team opened its Peach Belt Conference series with Flagler with a 3-0 shutout win on Friday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

The 3-0 win over Flagler (9-8, 2-5 PBC) allowed USC Aiken (11-2, 3-1 PBC) to claim its fourth shutout victory of the 2013 season.

Milewski (West Boylston, Mass./West Boylston HS) pitched an absolute gem in the contest in dealing the first complete game of the year for the Pacers, Milewski (2-1) fanned five Saints. He walked just two in the contest.

All of the Pacer runs in the game came with two outs.

The first Pacer run of the game came in the bottom half of the third inning when Branden Millhouse (Summerville, S.C./USC Upstate) singled through the left side to plate JJ Loker (Elkton, Va./Spotswood HS), who had singled to left field to get on base.

The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Pacers until the home half of the eighth inning. Ryan Metzler (Glen Burnie, Md./Siena) collected the first run when he doubled in Ty Barkell, who had moved up to second after a single by Ben Donath.

Donath (Aiken, S.C./Middle Georgia) would then score on a wild pitch to secure the third and final run for USC Aiken.

USC Aiken out-hit Flagler, 9-2, in the contest.

Barkell (Denver, Colo./Palmer Ridge HS) led the Pacers in the game with three hits. He was 3-for-4 with one run scored.

Joe Post and Chace Mitchell had one hit each for Flagler in its loss.

One of the two pitchers used on the day by the Saints, Flagler starter Justin Ratte (1-3) suffered the loss in the game. Neither Flagler pitcher was able to strike out a Pacer.

USC Aiken and Flagler will close out their three-game league series with a doubleheader on Saturday at the 'Bert. First pitch in game one of the twinbill is set for 1 p.m.
