Tarailo Surpasses 1,000 Points as Fifth-Ranked Pacers Win Fifth Straight

Box Score

GREENWOOD, S.C. – Daniela Tarailo became the 10th player in the NCAA Division II history of the program to score 1,000 points and the nationally fifth-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team claimed a 60-45 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander on Wednesday evening at Horne Arena.

Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS) entered the USC Aiken (18-2, 11-2 PBC) win over Lander (7-12, 4-8 PBC) needing just four points to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau. She finished the win over Lander with a game-high 22 points to now have 1,018 points in her career.

The national leader in 3-pointers made per game knocked down five treys en route to her game-high 22 points.

In addition to surpassing 1,000 career points in the Pacer win over Lander, Tarailo also acquired her first career double-double in the contest by bringing down a career-best 12 rebounds to go along with her 22 points. The reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week also had three assists in the game.

Three Pacers closed out the win over Lander in double figures in total with Mackenzie Reese (Madison, Wis./Edgewood HS) and Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va./Quinnipiac) both scoring 10 points in the Pacer victory.

Reese also had three rebounds, two assists and one steal in the game. Hill dished out a game-best six assists.

Tiffani Moody (Raleigh, N.C./Ohio Valley University) just missed on tying her career high for blocks in the USC Aiken win. Moody finished the contest with a game-best four blocks. She also had seven rebounds, six points and three assists.

Moody now needs just two more blocks to move into the top-5 in school history for blocks in a career. She presently has 86 blocks in her Pacer career.

Only one Lander player finished the game in double figures with Briana Wade ending the Bearcat loss to USC Aiken with 12 points.

USC Aiken held Lander to a 2012-13 Pacer opponent season-low 27.4 percent (17-for-62) shooting as a team in the game. USC Aiken has now held three opponents in the 2012-13 season to just 27 percent shooting (Benedict, Catawba and Lander).

The Peach Belt Conference East Division-leading Pacers concluded the win over Lander shooting 43.1 percent (22-for-51) as a team. The Pacers nailed 56.3 percent (9-for-16) of their 3-point attempts as a team.

Winners of five straight, USC Aiken will next travel to Savannah, Ga. to face off against Peach Belt Conference foe Armstrong Atlantic State at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9.
