Box Score GREENWOOD, S.C. – Two Pacers finished with a double-double as the University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team claimed its sixth straight victory with a 74-60 Peach Belt Conference win over Lander on Wednesday evening at Horne Arena.
The USC Aiken (15-5, 11-2 PBC) victory over Lander (6-13, 1-11 PBC) allowed the Pacers to remain in control in the race for the Peach Belt Conference regular-season title. The Peach Belt Conference East Division-leading Pacers now own a one and a half game lead over Peach Belt Conference West Division-leading Montevallo (14-6, 10-3 PBC).
Paul Larsen (Mooresville, N.C./Mercer) led the Pacers in the win over Lander by claiming his seventh double-double of the 2012-13 season. Larsen ended the win over the Bearcats with 21 points and 10 rebounds. He acquired four of his 10 boards on the offensive glass.
Larsen, who also had one block, shot 8-for-11 from the field in the game. He was a perfect 5-for-5 at the charity stripe.
Santoine Butler (Augusta, Ga./Gardner-Webb) was the other Pacer to obtain a double-double in the game. In claiming his third double-double of the year, Butler ended the Pacer win with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also claimed four of his 10 boards on the offensive glass.
Butler shot 5-for-9 from the field in the game. He was a perfect 2-of-2 at the charity stripe.
The national leader in 3-pointers made per game, Ronald Zimmerman (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley HS) knocked down six treys en route to 18 points for USC Aiken.
The final of four Pacers in double figures in the contest was Jesse Seilern (Innsbruck, Austria/Kapfenberg HS), who closed out the Pacer victory with 10 points.
USC Aiken all-time assists leader Re'mon Nelson (Columbus, Ohio/Canal Winchester HS) finished the Pacer win with a game-high seven assists.
Two Bearcats finished with over 20 points with David Pruett scoring a game-high 25. Dermaine Smith ended the loss to USC Aiken with 21 points.
USC Aiken ended the win over Lander shooting 45.2 percent (28-for-62) as a team. The Pacers hit 37.9 percent (11-for-29) of their 3-point attempts as a team.
Larsen and Butler allowed the Pacers to be a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line in the game.
Lander concluded its loss to USC Aiken shooting 44.9 percent (22-for-49) as a team. The Bearcats were only able to hit 18.2 percent (2-for-11) of their 3-point attempts in the game as a team.
The Bearcats finished the game hitting 77.8 percent (14-for-18) of their free throw attempts as a team.
Lander led by as many as eight points in the first half with the Bearcats owning a 30-22 advantage with under six minutes remaining in the first half.
The Pacers would then proceed to go on a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to own a 31-30 lead with 2:45 left in the first half of action.
USC Aiken would eventually enter the halftime break with a 37-32 advantage.
The Pacers would go ahead by as many as 15 in the second half before emerging with the 14-point victory.
USC Aiken will next travel to Savannah, Ga. to face off against Peach Belt Conference foe Armstrong Atlantic State at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9.
