NEW YORK – The University of South Carolina Aiken
men's golf team opened the spring of 2013 by remaining as the
third-ranked team in the nation in both the Golf
World/Nike Golf Division II Men's Coaches' Poll and the
Golfstat NCAA Division II Head-to-Head standings.
The Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Men's Coaches'
Poll combines the resources of Golf
World magazine, Nike Golf and the Golf Coaches
Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including
results from Divisions I, III, NAIA and NJCAA will appear in the
March 4, 2013 issue of Golf World.
USC Aiken is the highest of four ranked Peach Belt Conference
teams in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division II Men's
Coaches' Poll. Columbus State (10th), Georgia College
(11th) and Armstrong (19th) are all among the
top-20 in the poll.
Barry is first in the latest poll, while Nova Southeastern is
second. Florida Southern is fourth in the poll and Abilene
Christian is fifth.
In the Golfstat Head-to-Head standings, Nova Southeastern is
first, while Barry is second. North Alabama is fourth and Florida
Southern is fifth.
USC Aiken opened its spring campaign last week with a ninth
place finish at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. The Pacers
were the only NCAA Division II team in the 18-team
field.
USC Aiken will next travel to Salisbury, N.C. to play in
Catawba's Richard Rendleman Invitational at the par-71 Country Club
of Salisbury. The Richard Rendleman Invitational will be held on
Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5. USC Aiken last won the
Rendleman team crown in the 2006-07 season.
The Pacers will then play host to the
16th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate
at the par-70 Palmetto Golf Club on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday,
March 12. The Pacers are four-time (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009)
winners of their annual home tournament.
