AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women's
tennis player Shauna Williams was named the South Carolina Education
Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week
on Monday, February 18, 2013.
Williams (Columbia, S.C./Broward Community College) closed out
USC Aiken's three matches last week a perfect 3-0 in singles.
She was 2-0 against Peach Belt Conference opposition in singles
last week.
Williams opened her week on Friday, Feb. 15 by besting
Queens' Amanda Poole 7-5, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. She followed
that up by earning a hard-fought 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 win over
Montevallo's Anais Robert at No. 4 singles on Saturday, Feb.
16.
The junior then closed out her week by claiming a 7-6, 6-3 win
over Clayton State's Jessica Budd at No. 5 singles on Sunday,
Feb. 17.
Along with partner Margot Simon (Nantes, France/St. Joseph de
Loquidy), Williams also acquired an 8-5 Peach Belt Conference
victory at No. 1 doubles last week over Montevallo's top duo
of Niki Polcerova and Robert.

Department Student-Athlete of the Week award honors one
student-athlete each week from an in-season sport in 2012-13 for
