HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The nationally third-ranked
University of South Carolina Aiken men's golf team will
commence its 2013 spring campaign on Monday and Tuesday at the
Eighth Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
The event begins with 36 holes on Monday, Feb. 18. The final day
on Tuesday, Feb. 19 will feature 18 holes.
The Wexford Plantation course, which
underwent extensive renovations in 2011 (overseen by the Arnold
Palmer Design Company), measures 6,828 yards and is a par-72
layout.
The Pacers are two-time winners (2006 and 2009) of the Wexford
Plantation Intercollegiate.
USC Aiken played in four tournaments during the fall of 2012.
The Pacers took top honors at the Kiawah Island Invitational, which
included finishing ahead of six top-25 teams.
USC Aiken closed out the fall having finished in the top-5 in two
of its four tournaments.
After the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, USC Aiken will
then travel to Salisbury, N.C. to play in Catawba's Richard
Rendleman Invitational at the par-71 Country Club of Salisbury. The
Richard Rendleman Invitational will be held on Monday, March 4 and
Tuesday, March 5. USC Aiken last won the Rendleman team crown in
the 2006-07 season.
The Pacers will then play host to the
16th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate
at the par-70 Palmetto Golf Club on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday,
March 12. The Pacers are four-time (2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009)
winners of their annual home tournament.
