AMERICUS, Ga. – USC Aiken senior Keely Gillespie shattered the school record en route to a 10th-place finish at the Peach Belt Conference Championship Saturday morning, helping the Pacers finish 11th.
Gillespie, competing in her final conference championship, completed the 6k course in 22:21.59 to round out the top 10 finishers while earning second-team all-conference accolades. Her mark established a school record, eclipsing the mark she previously held by over a minute. The previous school record of 23:24 was established Nov. 3, 2012 at the NCAA Southeast Regional.
Alexis Harvin was the second finisher on head coach Kara Kreutzer's squad, crossing the line in 25:41.65 for 69th place.
Brittany May, Kayla Millholland and Morgan Payne were 73rd through 75th, respectively. May earned a time of 26:34.74 while Millholland ended the race in a time of 26:43.19. Payne notched a time of 27:00.49 for the meet.
Lauren Hodge, racing in her final conference championship, took 78th after finishing in 28:07.58 while Colleen Cirillo garnered a time of 30:54.33 to take 81st.
Hodge earned a spot on the Peach Belt Conference all-sportsmanship team.
The Pacers return to action Nov. 9 at the Southeast Regional Championship.
