Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – The nationally sixth-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team obtained a 65-40 Peach Belt Conference victory over Flagler on Thursday evening at the Convocation Center.
Winners of three straight games, USC Aiken has now won 28 of its last 29 regular-season home games.
The victory allows USC Aiken (16-2, 9-2 PBC) to have a half-game lead in the Peach Belt Conference East Division over rival and national No. 24 Augusta State (15-2, 8-2 PBC) entering their top-25 showdown on Saturday, Feb. 2 in Augusta, Ga. Tip-off in the contest is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
In a game in which USC Aiken basically led from start-to-finish, eight different Pacers scored and three ended their efforts in double figures in the win over Flagler (7-9, 5-6 PBC).
Mackenzie Reese (Madison, Wis./Edgewood HS) was the top scorer for the Pacers in the contest, ending her evening with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists.
As always, Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va./Quinnipiac) stuffed the stat sheet in the Pacer win, concluding the Pacer victory with 11 points, seven assists, five rebounds and five steals.
Emily O'Rourke (Baraboo, Wis./Baraboo HS) finished with a career-best 10 points in the USC Aiken win over Flagler. She also had two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in the game.
USC Aiken's Porsha Martin (Douglasville, Ga./South Paulding HS) did not claim double figures in scoring in the game, but she did bring down a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with her eight points.
Williesha Spencer was the only Flagler player in double figures in the game. She ended the 25-point loss to USC Aiken with a game-high 15 points.
USC Aiken as a team finished the victory over Flagler shooting 46.6 percent (27-for-58) from the field. USC Aiken shot 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from beyond the arc in the contest. The Pacers knocked down six of their eight (75 percent) free throw attempts in the game.
Flagler shot just 28 percent (14-for-50) from the field in its loss. The Saints managed to hit just 30 percent (6-for-20) of their 3-point attempts. Flagler was also 6-for-8 (75 percent) from the charity stripe in the game.
USC Aiken out-rebounded Flagler, 39-30, in the game. The Pacers held a decisive advantage in the paint where they outscored Flagler, 34-8.
