AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken women's
basketball player Daniela Tarailo was named the South Carolina Education
Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week
on Sunday, January 20, 2013.
Tarailo closed out USC Aiken's 1-1 week last week
averaging a team-best 21 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per
game.
Currently in the top-5 in NCAA Division II and first in the
Peach Belt Conference in 3-pointers made per game, Tarailo closed
out last week shooting 43.5 percent (10-for-23) from beyond the
arc.
Tarailo opened last week by leading the nationally third-ranked
Pacers with 12 points in USC Aiken's narrow home loss to
national No. 4 Clayton State on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
Tarailo concluded last week for the Pacers by scoring a
career-best 30 points in 32 minutes in USC Aiken's road win
over Young Harris on Saturday, Jan. 19.
Tarailo was 10-for-19 from the field in claiming the 30 points.
She knocked down a career-high seven 3-pointers in the game, while
shooting 70 percent (7-for-10) from beyond the arc in the game.
Tarailo, who just missed on a double-double in the contest as
she also obtained nine rebounds, was 3-for-3 from the free throw
line in the game.
Tarailo with her 30 points became the first Pacer to score 30 or
more points in a game since Meredith Legg scored 34 points in then
No. 18 USC Aiken's 80-60 win over No. 26 Shaw on Jan. 2, 2009.
